New Royal Enfield 650 Cruiser, caught ‘red-handed’

A spy photo reveals a new Royal Enfield 650 cruiser. After presenting its new range of twin-cylinder a couple of years ago, the Indian brand of British origin has already revealed that there will be more models with the 650 engine, beyond the Continental GT and Interceptor.

In fact, in the same year, Royal Enfield encouraged its distributors around the world to present their own projects with single or twin cylinder engines. At EICMA 2019 we saw several of these preparations, most with the 650 Twin engine.

This spy shot shows what appears to be the third twin to be released: an elegant cruiser, with a drop-shaped tank, wide one-piece handlebars. It rides an inverted fork, with a single front disc (on the right side, instead of the left on the Interceptor and Continental GT) and some spoke wheels that appear to be 19 “and 17”.

The engine is the well-known air-cooled, oil-cooled, parallel twin-cylinder, 47 hp and 52 Nm of torque, with a 6-speed gearbox. As with existing twins, there are a pair of independent exhausts, one on each side.

The new Royal Enfield 650 cruiser appears to be the ‘big sister’ of the Meteor 350, the single cylinder whose presentation has been postponed due to the pandemic.

Recall that Royal Enfield is also working on an electric motorcycle.
